Saturday Night Live (Arista ?, 1977 - OUT OF PRINT)

This album is a collection of comedy sketches on which the band appears briefly, as it does on the TV show.

Personnel (presumed): Cheryl Hardwick, Paul Shaffer (keyboards), Bob Cranshaw (bass), Bert Jones (guitar), David Shaw (drums), Alan Rubin (trumpet), Tom Malone (trombone), Howard Shore, Mauricio Smith, Lou Marini, Howard Johnson (saxes).

Though this album was released in 1986, it appears to have been recorded sometime late in the 1982-1983 season. Bassist Tom Barney, who joined the trimmed-down SNL Band in the fall of 1983, is here, as well as the horn players who left the show around that time. It is a collection of tunes recorded for the show.

This features Smith and his lineup at the height of their powers. Some of the cuts will be familiar to regular viewers of SNL, but some have never been heard on the show.

Chicago blues legend Buddy Guy recorded this album with some (but not all) of the SNL Band at his own club, Buddy Guy's Legends. One of the ringers has played on the show, some have not. Also available as a video album.
