Alex Foster played alto saxophone in the SNL Band from 1985-1991, took a four year break (with George Young filling the chair during that time), and was invited to return for the 1995-1996 season. His recording credits have included his own album, Beginnings... Goodbye (released in 1992) and such platinum records as Michael Bolton's The Hunger and Paul Simon's Graceland.
