The Bugs Bunny Show The Porky Pig Show (Hal Seeger Main Titles) DePatie-Freleng Field Guide to Titles and Credits! Learn about production numbers, ring colors, and more! Vitaphone Number List, 1930-1943 |
||||
Looney Tunes Golden Collection 6 has been released, and we've caught up with as many title card corrections as we can find. The one restored title card from a Blue Ribbon this time out is "Crowing Pains." Here's some examples of the restorations.

Vitaphone release numbers, which appeared in the cartoon titles from 1930-1943 and used internally until the end of the studio in 1969, are now complete. The complete list can be found here. Our source for this information is Roy Liebman's book Vitaphone Films: A Catalogue of the Features and Shorts (McFarland and Company, 2003).
We have added greatly to our title card gallery, particularly from the Harman-Ising era.
We have decided to eliminate the video citations from our listings. There are sites that are doing this sort of thing better for one, but there is another more valid reason. AOL Video is now featuring a channel devoted to Looney Tunes cartoons, and while not all of the cartoons are represented, the selection is choice. The cartoons range all the way from some of the early classics right up to the final theatrical Warner Bros. cartoon, "Little Go Beep" (1999). We've started linking these videos; all you need do is click on a title card and your cartoon will start playing. You can also download higher resolution copies of the cartoons, all free courtesy of Warner Bros. and AOL. If you want to try one now, go to the DePatie-Freleng page and you'll see many of those 1964-1966 titles linked there. We will be stepping up our efforts in that direction this summer.
More WB Cartoon Insanity
A recent post on the Termite Terrace Trading Post about artists who were credited for only cartoon led me to an inspiration: why not a list of artists and links to the cartoons they all worked on? How many cartoons did Friz Freleng direct? How often did Emery Hawkins show up as a guest animator? Who were the frontline animators for Bob McKimson? This guide will answer all those questions and possibly provoke new ones. Granted, it's not a front-burner project, and it's going to take some time to do. So don't hold your breath.
Thanks to Darrell Van Citters and Larry Tremblay for help with production numbers, and to Jerry Beck, Jon Cooke, Robair, Jeff G., John Lund, Larry Tremblay, Pietro Shakiran, Chris Sanchez (he gave me some nice rare ones!) and a few others for contributing title card scans!
